Apple’s Biggest WWDC Announcements in Two Minutes or Less
Apple unveiled a whole lot of new software (and one beast of a computer), a Jeopardy! spoiler was released, and we have an alarm clock suggestion. Here’s the news you need to know, in two minutes or less.
Today’s Headlines
Apple unveiled all kinds of stuff at its Worldwide Developer’s Conference
Let’s break down some of the coolest things Apple announced today:
Apple WatchOS: More watch faces, the ability to stream audio on your watch and download apps directly, activity trends tracker, and cycle tracking for women.
iOS 13: New and faster phone operating system with dark mode, redesigned reminders and Maps, and a new “sign in with Apple” option that won’t share your personal data like signing in with things like Facebook or Google might. You can choose which data to share, and if you’d like to hide your email, Apple will create a random address that forwards to yours so you can receive information without giving out your email address.
AirPods: Siri will now read your messages to you as they arrive (even from 3rd party apps), and you can reply with your voice instantly. Also, you can now share a song with someone just by tapping your phones together while wearing AirPods.
iPadOS: The iPad now has its own operating system, which allows having multiple apps on the screen simultaneously, easier highlighting, three-finger swipes to copy, paste, and undo, and the ability to connect USB drives and SD cards directly.
Mac Pro: Apple lifted the curtain on the new Mac Pro, the most powerful Mac ever created. It has 1.5 terabytes of memory, a 6K display (and you can connect up to six of those), and a 28-core Intel Xeon Processor. Basically: You could make 8K Avatar at home on this beast.
MacOS: MacOS Catalina is here, and while it says goodbye to iTunes, it says hello to 4K HDR playback on Mac, the option to use your iPad as a second display (even wirelessly!), app control with your voice, and podcast indexing so you can search for what specific things people said in an episode.
