LG OLED TV Black Friday Deal: LG B9 Drops to a New Low Price

OLED TVs—a type of panel in which every pixel acts as its own backlight—are outstanding. They’ve ranked among the best TVs that you can buy since 2012, when LG announced its first 55-inch OLED panel.

Back then, you had to pay a staggering $8,000 for the pleasure of perfect black levels and near-perfect contrast. Over the past few years, those steep initial prices have settled to the $1,500 to $2,000 range. Now they’re on the decline once again: You can get one of LG’s 2019 models cheaper than ever from now through Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The 55-Inch LG B9 OLED is $1,197 from Amazon and Walmart, and $1,200 from Best Buy this week.

The B9 is the most affordable model in LG’s 2019 OLED line, but I couldn’t tell much of a difference between the B9 and more expensive models like LG’s C9 in real-world testing. The major differences between the B9 and C9 can be found here, but basically the B9 has a slightly less powerful processor. To my eyes, the C9 had a slightly better color definition, but they both looked so good, I couldn’t really tell unless they were directly next to each other.

Should you decide your eyes are better than mine, and that you want to snag the higher-end model, the C9 OLED is also on sale this weekend. You can get a 55-inch model for $100 off ($1,497 at Amazon and Walmart, $1,500 at Best Buy). If it were us, we’d save that $300, get the B9, and look for a new soundbar with the savings.

Regardless which model you choose, all 2019 LG OLED models come with support for Amazon Alexa and Apple Airplay 2, which is great for streaming from iOS and searching for your favorite content using your voice. I also really like LG’s Magic Remote, which lets you point and click at your TV like you’re using a Wii Remote and really makes inputting usernames and passwords easy—though it is packed with a few too many buttons.
