Footage of a near-miss at a barrierless level crossing in Cumbria has been released by Network Rail as a safety warning to drivers.
The car was so close to being struck by the Northern service that the camera angle only captured its roof as it drove straight over the tracks on the Windermere branch line at Burneside.
The incident was described by senior railway staff as one of the closest near-misses they had ever seen.
