The Papers: Brexit minister quits and Strictly winner announced
The focus of most front pages this morning is on Lord Frost’s resignation as Brexit minister. …
A Downing Street source has told the Sun on Sunday that Lord Frost was growing increasingly disillusioned with the direction of government policy. “Frostie hated the Covid restrictions and higher taxes – but vaccine passports was the final straw”, the source claims. The Sun’s leader column argues these are “exactly” the issues that concern sensible, hard-working voters, meaning Lord Frost’s exit “cannot be easily dismissed”. If Boris Johnson cannot maintain the backing of a man he hand-picked, it warns, “then he will struggle to win back the support of his furious MPs.”
