25 Best Deals From Target’s ‘Deal Days’ Prime Day Rival Sale

0

Amazon Prime Day isn’t the only sale this week. From video games to household essentials, here are our favorite picks from…

There’s no place like Target. While shopping online doesn’t instill the same frenzy as getting lost in Bullseye’s Playground, the Target Deal Days sale still offers an exciting excuse to browse the virtual aisles. (As if any of us ever needed another excuse to make a quick Target run.)

The sale runs through July 13, and while it may be a direct competitor of Amazon Prime Day, the vast majority of these deals don’t require a membership to shop. Some of the deals are only available to Target Circle members, but the program is free to join—and joining is worthwhile if you shop at Target even semiregularly.

The WIRED Gear team tests products year-round and sorted through hundreds of thousands of deals by hand to make these picks. Crossed out products are out of stock or no longer discounted. Our Amazon Prime Day coverage page has the latest stories, and our Prime Day Shopping Tips will help you avoid bad deals. You can also get a 1-Year Subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off) here.

Updated July 12, 2022: We’ve updated prices and links throughout, and added several Nest products, Google Pixel phones, and the Pixel Buds A-Series.

If you buy something using links in our stories, we may earn a commission. This helps support our journalism. Learn more.

Gaming and Entertainment Deals

Pixel Buds Series A

You could be on a quick call, watching Will Byers cry about his crush, or listening to Selena sing Bidi Bidi Bom Bom — it doesn’t matter if you have the Google Pixel Buds A-Series. These are our favorite ear buds for most people with their ergonomic design, balanced sound, and IPX4 water-resistance.

Gloomhaven is one of the most popular—and most expensive—tabletop games out there. Jaws of the Lion can be played as a standalone game or as an expansion to the original. It’s suitable for two or more players ages 14 and older.

A plethora of Lego sets are on sale, ranging from $10 Classic Brick kits to Minecraft-themed models. The inclusive Duplo and Friends lineups are also featured in this sale. The quality of the deal depends on which set you’re looking at, but the discounts are generally good, especially for parents looking to entertain their kids this summer.

Target Circle Members Only

This workbook is a good option for soon-to-be kindergarteners, and the clip coupon brings it down to just $3 for Target Circle members. Choose free in-store pickup where applicable to skip the shipping fees. Be sure to check out these school supply deals for additional student savings.

This sale has nearly 50,000 titles to choose from, including classics for kids and thrillers for adults. The discount will reflect automatically during checkout.

Household and Outdoor Deals

Hoover PowerDash Pet

This isn’t an uncommon sale on our budget carpet cleaner pick, so there’s no need to rush to add it to your cart. But if you’re already in the market, we think you’ll like this one for small stains (if you have a big old house that needs serious deep cleaning, maybe go for something bigger). It’s light and easy to maneuver around, and the trigger for dispensing solution is right on the handle. There are also separate tanks for clean and dirty water that can be removed for rinsing. This price is matched at Amazon

The bigger Hoover SmartWash we like is also discounted from Target, though it’s cheaper at Amazon right now.

There’s a ton of clothing and shoes on sale. The selection includes options for men, women, and kids. It’s not limited to just shirts and pants either—you can also get deals on shoes and swimsuits. Prices are reflected on the product page.

KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus mixer

While it’s not difficult to find deals on stand mixers around shopping holidays, this model comes in some unique and pretty colors. KitchenAid mixers are popular for good reason. They’re great for baking as well as cooking in general. While this discount is good, if you’re dead set on getting the lowest possible price (possibly $200-$250), it’s best to wait until Black Friday to buy these.

Nothing screams “college” like one of these bad boys. These kinds of pillows are never truly comfortable, but they’re handy for homework, bedtime reading, and movie nights. This one has a fluffy covering for added softness.

These sorts of clothing storage racks have become popular online over the past couple of years. They’re great for small apartments or bedrooms, especially if you have limited storage space. This rack has shelves on the side for holding shoes or storage bins—a feature that’s hard to find in other similarly priced versions. Consider the Gen-Z cool points an added bonus.

Health and Beauty Deals

Theragun Elite

There are many cheaper massage guns you can buy (and we like a bunch of them), but the Pro is the best among Theragun’s line. Theraguns (made by Therabody) are kind of like the Kleenex of the percussive device world. It’s the quietest of the brand’s devices and comes with five attachment heads for tenderizing different muscles.

The Mini is also discounted for $160 ($40 off), if you really want a Theragun but want to spend as little as possible. However, there are better options than the Mini. The triangle designs of the other Theraguns make them much more ergonomic. The Theragun Prime, which we did not test, is $250 ($50 off).

We think most people would be fine with the Theragun Elite, including athletes, but this Pro is the beast of the lineup and emits 60 pounds of force, whereas the Elite uses 40 pounds. It also has a rotating arm so it’s even easier to get the attachments hitting the right spot. If you have the money to spend, you’ll like it, but $500 is a hefty price tag on sale.

You can still enjoy some of Therabody’s tech without shelling out hundreds. This Wave Roller combines traditional foam rolling with the vibrations of a massage. It’s not going to get into knots quite as efficiently but you could pair it with a cheaper massage gun if you need it.

Smart Home Deals

Google Nest Audio

The Google Nest Audio has surprisingly great sound quality for a smart speaker. We like connecting two of them together for even better audio quality, and with this sale, it’s easy to justify. The Nest Mini Smart Speaker is also on sale for $30 ($20 off), so you can get something with a smaller profile, or simply add on to your Nest ecosystem.

A smart display is incredibly versatile, serving as a video player, as a way to communicate with others, or as a glorified digital frame if that’s your thing. The Nest Hub Max does all of those things really well, and even though these go on sale often, we only recommend getting it when it’s discounted. If video chat isn’t your thing, the Nest Hub (2nd Gen) Smart Display is on sale for for $55 ($45 off) — that’s $111 less than the Max for a smart display that’s still great!

Google Households looking to up their security game, look no further: the Nest Cam is your best option. It works with Google Assistant, features 1080p with HDR and night vision, and it even has a good, clear speaker and microphone. For a wired, indoor option, the Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired) is $79 ($21 off).

With the dog days of summer come dreary, sometimes debilitating temperatures. The Nest Thermostat can help keep your home cooler (while also saving you a little bit of money in the process) by learning your preferred settings and adjusting accordingly. Plus, with smart temperature adjustments, you’ll help save the planet little by little with your reduced energy use, too.

Nest Video Doorbell

Ding dong, the Nest (Doorbell) is great! No, really. This would probably be our top pick video doorbell camera if it weren’t so expensive, so this is a great chance to get something a little better for a lot less. This is the lowest price it’s been, coming in at a third less than usual.

Not all TVs are smart, but luckily they don’t have to wish for a brain like the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz. You can just plug in a Chromecast with Google TV, and voila! You’ll get all the benefits of a smart TV (Youtube, Netflix, and other apps) right at your finger tips with the included remote.

Smart Phone Deals

Google Pixel 6 Pro

The Google Pixel 6 Pro got a rare WIRED score of 9/10—a pretty big deal around here. We absolutely loved the camera quality, with it’s Real Tone feature that captures different skin tones incredibly well. It also has a long-lasting battery, a smooth OLED screen, and an amazingly fast refresh rate. If you don’t need all the features of the Pro, you could opt for the Google Pixel 6 Android Smartphone (256GB), which is on sale for $599 ($100 off).

Target gift card

Target Circle Members Only

This is an extremely easy way to make your purchases even cheaper. Let’s say you have $100 worth of merchandise from the Deal Days sale in your cart. Purchase a gift card for that amount using this coupon and you’ll save an additional 5 percent on whatever you were planning to purchase. The card can be delivered via email or text, so as long as your coveted items won’t sell out immediately, this deal is worthwhile.

Spend at least $50 on food and beverages and choose free same-day pickup or delivery to snag a free $10 gift card. There are a few exclusions to this deal, but it’s an easy way to save some cash if you were planning on restocking some groceries anyway.

If you’re a Target Circle member, it’s worth checking to see whether your account is eligible for this offer, which gets you 10 percent off a purchase. The offer expires on July 13. There’s a list of exclusions, and not all accounts are eligible. Your mileage may vary.
