Happy Independence Day! We hope you’re able to celebrate the long weekend with your family and friends. Maybe stay indoors this year to take your mind off the heat wave currently working its way through the US. If you’re outside, we have lots of advice on how to stay cool. The good news is there’s money to be saved on some of our favorite home and outdoor products this weekend thanks to a bevy of July 4th sales.

See our guides on latte and cappuccino makers and robot vacuums to make your house a perfect oasis for summer parties and staycations.
Clip the coupon to see the full discount at checkout. This is a better deal than what we saw on Prime Day. This Oxo Coffee Maker (9/10, WIRED Recommends) can brew up to eight cups of coffee, making it a great option for large households, and it’s very simple to operate. It’ll brew at the right temperature for the correct amount of time. Plus, if you just want to make a single cup’s worth, a pour-over dripper accessory is included.
The DeLonghi is a dead-simple machine and one of the best priced when it’s not discounted. It’s very easy to clean, and you get a frothing wand.
This is $10 less than the price during Target’s Prime Day rival sale. We haven’t tested it, and while Keurig machines aren’t our favorite way to brew coffee, there’s no denying it’s one of the simplest methods around. Make sure to pick up K-Cups!
This is our favorite robot vacuum for most people. It has features of pricier vacs, like mapping, problem spot detection, and virtual barriers. Plus it has a larger than average dust bin and 180 minutes of battery life. It was discounted to $310 on Prime Day, but this is still a solid price.
Clip the coupon on the page to see the discount at checkout. We saw this robot vacuum go for $100 cheaper on Amazon Prime Day, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t worth picking up for this price. It’s a great vac for households with pets. It sucks dog hair right out of low-pile carpets and best of all, its cameras can avoid obstacles like pet poop. No need to fear that you’ll come home to pet messes smeared across your house.
The D8 has a Turbo mode for particularly tough messes and an auto-recharge and resume function for when the battery dies while it’s still cleaning. We loved the older Neato D7 when we tested it, and you can get it from Neato’s site for the same price right now. But the newer model is probably the way to go. You can also find this deal at Bed Bath and Beyond and Lowe’s. If you buy the D8 directly from Neato’s site by July 5, you can get a side brush and four-pack of filters with your discounted purchase by using the promo code SUMMER21.
Tech Deals
Apple’s latest MacBook Air (9/10, WIRED Recommends) uses its very own M1 chip instead of an Intel processor, and the result is excellent. It’s a truly well-rounded machine, with great battery life, powerful performance, a nice screen, and the same, classic, slim design. This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
This price isn’t as low as we saw on Prime Day, but it’s still a good deal on a flagship phone from 2020 (8/10, WIRED Recommends). The AMOLED 90-Hz screen is one of the best you’ll find at this price, and it’s tough to find an Android phone this powerful for less than $500.
WIRED reviews editor Julian Chokkattu is currently testing this phone, and he says it’s an incredible value, especially at this astonishingly low price. It’s speedy enough to run most apps and games, the camera is surprisingly decent, and the battery can run for around two days.
This isn’t the lowest price we’ve seen on the iPad Air, but if you’re in the market for Apple’s latest mid-range tablet, it’s worth it. It has the modern iPad Pro design without Face ID; in fact, Touch ID is embedded into the power button. It’s powerful and has great battery life.
Want an Android tablet instead? We like the Tab S6 Lite. Performance won’t be as smooth as pricier slates, but it gets the job done. The screen is nice as are the speakers and battery life.
Outdoor Deals
You’re probably spending time outside for the next few months. We have guides on all things grilling, including gas grills, charcoal grills, portable grills, and accessories. Plus, see our favorite Bluetooth speakers if you want to play DJ at your next party.
Clip the coupon button to see the discount at checkout. This might not be the biggest discount, but the StormBox is our favorite budget Bluetooth speaker. It’s IPX7-rated, which means you can bring it out to your pool or the beach while you celebrate the summer. It has 20 hours of battery life and strong bass.
It’s nice to have a cooler on hand when you’re hosting (or going to!) backyard parties, taking a beach trip, or tailgating any number of events. The 16-quart Stanley Adventure is tough, relatively light, and holds 21 cans of your choice of beverage.
Nothing says summer quite like grilling. If you regularly grill, you should get an instant-read thermometer. This Thermapen isn’t cheap, but WIRED senior writer Scott Gilbertson says it’s worth the investment. It has an automatic backlight and folds up for easy storage.
This is WIRED senior writer Scott Gilbertson’s favorite smart hub for a grill. It’s ideal for anyone who does a lot of slow cooking, smoking, or anything where you need to keep a constant but low temperature. It has four channels you can see various temperatures, and you don’t need to have your phone on you to see all of this information.
Click the coupon button on the page to see the full discount at checkout. Most people don’t think they need gloves for grilling, but it makes things a whole lot easier. These gloves can handle up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit, but you should still stay cautious even when using your gloved hands.
If you’re heading out on hikes this summer, trekking poles help relieve some of the strain off your legs and knees by transferring the work to your upper body. You should buy some rubber tips to snap on the end and avoid dragging the poles as you hike—pole scars can damage the environment.
WIRED staffers have used a few different versions of these bottles, and like them all, but this one has a nice sleeve with a pocket to store your keys. All the bottles are 15 percent off through July 5, so you should be able to find something you like.
Beauty Deals
You might be a little rusty in the grooming department. See our guides on hair straighteners, hair dryers, and hair removal tools for all of our favorite picks.
Sephora’s Summer Sale runs until July 5, and our favorite straightening brush from Amika is discounted. It’s well worth it at this price if your hair type reacts well to brushes. It takes the curls out of my hair but leaves it puffy, and I’ve seen others get flat iron-like results in less time with less damage.
This dryer is cheap as it is, so another $5 off is nice. It works well for diffusing curls and has the best ‘90s design. However, the low setting can be too low, and the high can cause frizz on delicate curls. A medium option would’ve been nice.
This dryer has an oscillating quick-dry nozzle that rapidly moves side to side as you dry, mimicking the back and forth motion you might make with your hand.
Clip the coupon on the page to see the discount at checkout. This is a pricey dryer, but it automatically adjusts heat and airflow based on moisture levels and air temperature.
This Dermaflash is on our list of the best hair removal gear. It’s expensive, and the blades are single-use, but it gets rid of peach fuzz and dead skin from your face without irritation.
Mattress Deals
It wouldn’t be a holiday if all our favorite mattresses weren’t discounted. Read our guide on all the mattresses we tested for more. The following prices are for queen sizes.
Use promo code July4200 to see the discount at checkout. This is our favorite mattress. It’s quite expensive even on sale, but it really is great to relax on at night. This deal includes two of Helix’s pillows for free.
We’ve seen this mattress dip further down in price, but it’s affordable even when it isn’t on sale. Comfort doesn’t suffer in the name of a bargain either.
