11 Best Presidents’ Day Mattress Sales (2023): Hybrid, All-foam, and Buying Advice

0

Beds are expensive, but the right one can mean the difference between feeling refreshed or grumpy. These ones are discounted….

Mattress prices are confusing and sometimes infuriating. They’re almost always inflated—you’ll see some sneaky price increases every few months—which makes sales look all the more tantalizing. It doesn’t help that some brands always have a site-wide sale. Don’t be fooled! You should never pay more than the sale prices during holiday events like Presidents’ Day. The prices you see this weekend are among the lowest you’ll find for a mattress except for Black Friday sales. If you are in need of a new mattress, now is the time to grab one. We’ve tested dozens, and our favorites are on sale. All prices are for queen-size mattresses.

Do You Want a Hybrid or an All-Foam Mattress?

First, you’ll need to decide what type of mattress you’re looking for. We prefer hybrids, which are a combination of hundreds of individually wrapped springs and multiple layers of memory foam. They tend to be more supportive, but they are also more expensive.

All-foam beds are exactly that—they’re made up of many layers of thick memory foam. These used to be the majority of bed-in-a-box mattresses, but now both foam and hybrid mattresses come vacuum-packed in a box that’s easier to get home with and into your house than strapping a full bed onto the roof of your car. It’s worth noting that most new mattresses don’t need to be paired with box springs; you just need a slatted base.

Enter code PDS25 to see the discount at checkout. The Helix Midnight Luxe is number one on our list of favorite mattresses, but it’s also one of the pricier models we’ve tested. It’s the best mattress we’ve tried, and the plush cushion top mixed with its medium firmness should suit most sleeping positions. This deal includes two pillows.

Leesa Sapira mattress

The Leesa Hybrid isn’t as nice as the Helix, but it’s a close second with its pressure-relieving but soft feel. This deal includes two pillows. This price is also available from Target but without the pillows. If you want a Leesa but prefer all-foam, the Original Mattress is discounted to $1,099 ($200 off).

Casper’s Hybrid Mattress is cheaper than last year’s $1,526 price. It offers a good balance between softness and firmness, and it’s breathable. This is a great standard mattress to buy if you simply can’t decide which one to get. This deal is also available from Target and Amazon. Casper’s Standard Foam Mattress is discounted to $1,036 ($250 off), which is a few bucks less than we saw last year.

Enter code PDS25 to see the discount at checkout. The Birch bed is one of our favorite organic mattresses—it’s made from natural latex and wool—and it has a nice bounce to it. It comes from Helix, the company behind our favorite mattress. This deal includes two pillows.

Enter code PREZ30 to see the discount at checkout. I’ve been sleeping on this mattress for a few months and find it comfy for my array of sleeping positions—I’m a side, stomach, diagonal, toss-and-turn sleeper. The bottom of the bed has no edge support, and you can really feel the coils in that area. I only noticed this when I was making the bed, and it isn’t an issue when sleeping. Though if you frequently sit at the bottom edge of the bed, then maybe skip this one.

Enter code SAVE15 to see the discount at checkout. If your child needs a twin-size bed, this is more affordable than other options, and it’s made using certified organic cotton, wool, and latex. You can extend its life by going for the two-sided version for $125 more. You can read more about it in our Best Organic Mattresses guide.

Enter code PRESDAY30 to see the discount at checkout. This deal is a perfect example of the ever-fluctuating prices of mattresses. Last President’s Day, Brooklyn Bedding’s deal was 25 percent off rather than this year’s 30, but the queen was discounted to $843. The website makes it seem like it’s $400 off, but this bed is always $999 from Walmart. Alas, it’s a good choice if you need a super-firm bed.

Enter code SWEETDEAL to see the discount at checkout. This is unfortunately also not as good a deal as it appears because the queen-size Allswell is always $349 from Walmart, which makes Allswell mattresses. However, it’s included here because we want to stress that you don’t need to spend $1,000 for a bed. Read more about the other Allswell beds we like in our full mattress guide.

The Mint mattress has three inches of super-soft foam on top so you can sink right in, in a good way, while still feeling supported. It’s slightly cheaper from Nordstrom, but full and queen sizes aren’t currently available.

Enter code SWEETDREAM15 to see the discount at checkout. The Keetsa didn’t get a top spot in our guide, but it is an honorable mention. WIRED reviewer Matt Jancer tested this mattress for a few months and found it to be perfectly fine for side sleeping. We like that the top layer is made of recycled materials.

Purple’s mattresses are outfitted with its iconic Jell-O-ey feeling square grid for softness and support, and this one is slightly cheaper than last year. This price is also available from Amazon. We think the hybrid version is better if you can swing the higher cost. It’s discounted to $1,999 ($400 off).
