England defeated Japan 52-13 in their last match in 2022

England will face Japan next year in an historic first Test match between the two sides in the country.

Head coach Steve Borthwick’s team will travel to Japan to play against the Brave Blossoms on 22 June 2024.

The two teams have faced each other three times before with the last meeting in the Autumn International series last year,

England won that encounter 52-13 at Twickenham.

“This is a landmark occasion for our two rugby nations,” RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney said.

England toured Japan In 1971 and 1979, but those matches were of non-Test match status.

The details of the match are still to be decided but JRFU president Masato Tsuchida said: “We are delighted to welcome England to Japan next year.”

England will be facing Japan in this year’s World Cup in France in September.
