
Apple will certainly release a competitor to Meta’s new Ray-Ban glasses, but the latest rumors say glasses with a screen won’t arrive with the first version of the Apple Glass.

It’s previously been reported that Apple was shifting priorities away from the Apple Vision Pro to the lighter Apple Glass spectacles, specifically to compete with Meta’s latest release. Other reports backing up this claim predicted that the glasses will appear in late 2026 or early 2027.
Now according to Bloomberg, the first version of the lightweight glasses may be announced in 2026, but won’t be released until 2027 in an Apple Silicon-like rollout giving developers time to adapt. The report, though, also confirms that the first version will not feature an AR display.
