Amazon Kindle Sales and Deals: Get a Paperwhite For $40 Off

0

Say what you will about Amazon’s growing retail dominance, but the company makes a damn fine ebook reader. Kindles are the most eye-friendly way to read digital books, and their battery life is outstanding. Some of Amazon’s services, like Kindle Unlimited and Audible audiobooks, are also excellent values.

We like the Kindle so much we’ve made a Kindle Buying Guide to help you figure out which model is best for you. If you’re looking to buy one, do it now: Amazon doesn’t discount its Kindles as often as other devices, and it may be a few months before it’s discounted again (and the Paperwhite is usually only $30 off).

Kindle Paperwhite for $90 ($40 off)

The Best Kindle: If you want a Kindle but haven’t gotten further than that, the Paperwhite is the best place to start (9/10, WIRED Recommends). It has a more uniform light-up display than the standard Kindle, and right now it’s discounted to the sticker price of the cheaper version. Other great features include more pixels for clearer text and a waterproof body for bathtub or poolside reading. If you intend to download a lot of Audible audiobooks and listen to them on headphones (there are no speakers on this reader), get the 32-gigabyte Paperwhite for $120 (also $40 off). Amazon’s Kindle Essentials bundle is also discounted.

Standard Kindle for $70 ($20 off)

The new 2019 standard 6-inch Kindle (8/10, WIRED Recommends) gives you the most bang for your buck. It’s not waterproof and it has fewer pixels, but you still get plenty. It comes with a light-up display, so you can finally save money without having to keep the light on when you read before bed. Amazon also sells a bundle with some accessories for $105 ($35 off).

How to Load Up on Ebooks

If you decide to curl up with a new Kindle, you may want to consider Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited subscription. We’re not always fans of the growing subscription economy, but this one gives unlimited access to 1 million books that you can read at your leisure, and some free Audible books, too (not a bad deal). Kindle Unlimited costs $10 a month.

Other Amazon Devices on Sale
